Racism / Violence: My experience
I
was living in Elizabeth New Jersey, when I was walking to a restaurant about
10:00pm with my uncle and a few white guys drove by and yelled,” Nigger get out
of my town”. We continued on our way when I noticed they circled back and
pulled in front of us. Right behind us
two guys at the end of the street came our way.
Three other guys got out of the car and came at us asking, “What were we
doing in their town, don’t you know niggers are not allowed on this side of town”.
My uncle held my hand tight and we tried to walk away when one of them pushed
me and another one kicked him. We tried run and was tripped by someone and just
when I hit the ground I heard some of the people in the community yell,” What’s
going on, leave them alone”. The guys kicked me one more time and ran to their
car and drove off. I remember walking back angry and shocked that people was so
mean for no reason.
